Back homeFinally it was time for us to say goodbye to our friends. We had to start our way back home. A minibus took us back to Gilgit, where we wanted to take a flight to Islamabad. It was a sad moment when we left Karimabad, because we had spent such a great time together with Leo and Sada in the last 3.5 weeks.

A waitlisted flight, not knowing if this time we were able to fly to Islamabad or if we had to take a car again. And of course we were not lucky. Our flight was cancelled and we had to hire a taxi. 15 hours of driving and one overnight stay in Besham, before we arrived in Islamabad. We spent the last night in our friend’s apartment again. Saba cooked dinner for us and brought us to the airport the next morning. We had a stopover in Dubai where we stayed one day and night with Eddy’s cousin and his family. They drove us around and showed us everything you can see as a tourist in one day. After travelling through Pakistan it came as a shock seeing the wealth and luxury in Dubai. Nothing seems impossible to achieve. Probably the best example is the “Burj Khalifa” – with 828 meter the tallest building in the world.

And we know for sure that we will go back to Pakistan, because despite everything you see and hear in the media it is a beautiful country with stunning mountains and some of the friendliest people we met so far. |
