Up the Baltoro Glacier

The Baltoro Glacier is 65 km long and one of the longest glaciers in the world. On the 3rd day we set our first step on it and from then it was an exhausting up and down on the rocky moraines. Every day we had lunch after 3-4 hours of walking. The weather was actually quite good, with clouds in the morning but during day time sunshine and high temperatures. We had beautiful views on the surrounding mountains – the Cathedral Group and the Trango Towers; with 6286 meter they have the world’s tallest cliffs. Paiyu Peak, the Baltoro Pinnacles and on the second day we got our first sight on Broad Peak (8047 m) and the Gasherbrums. The path starts going across ice fields and we hade to jump over some streams. Urdukas (3950 m) is the last real campsite before we had to actually sleep on the ice.
